Maintenance Technician

Location:  USA, Sparta MI

The Maintenance Technician will work with a small, cohesive team and be responsible for maintenance and repairs of mechanical systems, apparatus, buildings, machinery, and equipment. He/she shall secure parts and services from vendors by completing purchase requisitions and obtaining quotes.

Principal Accountabilities/Main functions
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic devices
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild pumps
  • Relocate, level, align, and adjust precision machines, rollers, etc.
  • Operate tool room equipment to produce or repair machine parts
  • Machine precise fittings of bearings, keyways
  • Threading pipe
  • Operate welding and gas cutting equipment
  • Develop and complete predictive maintenance schedules, repairs, perform calibrations and adjustments on required meters and sensors, and record meter readings
  • Perform mechanical PM’s and repairs
  • Work to reduce energy consumption and waste
  • Organize and control inventory of the maintenance shop and maintenance storage areas
  • Support the R&D department with projects and repairs
  • Work with contractors/vendors and obtain quotes
  • Monitor KPI’s and focus efforts to maintain targets
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of tesa tape processes.
  • Maintain accurate records as required
  • Keep company provided tools, tool boxes, and work areas clean and organized
  • Uphold safety, quality, environmental, and production standards
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability learn on your own as well as recognize when additional help is necessary

Beneficial Skills/Functions
  • Conduct chemical tests and additions for water treatment monitoring and audits
  • Operate boilers; cooling towers; and cooling loops
  • Basic PLC skills

Hiring Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in an industrial maintenance position or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Strong background of machine repair, machining, welding;
  • Basic electrical safety troubleshooting;
  • Basic HVAC knowledge;
  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team concept;
  • Must be able to work within the framework of 6S, ISO, and IATF requirements;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and the ability to obtain a working knowledge of SAP);
  • Willing and able to obtain fork-truck and lift licenses.

8. Required Working Conditions
  • Must be able to:
  • lift and carry 50 lbs without assistance;
  • walk throughout scheduled shift;
  • work at heights up to 40 feet;
  • crawl, sit, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions
  • Will be required to work in Class 1 Division 1 and 2 hazardous locations
  • Will be required to work outside in all weather conditions at times
  • Must be willing to adjust schedule, work weekends and support after hours emergencies as needed.
  • Will be required to receive phone calls and report to work during off-shifts in cooperation with the team
  • Occasional travel to other facilities, vendors, and training locations may be required
