Market Development Manager: Automotive - OEM/S

Location:  USA, Novi MI

The Market Development Manager, Automotive OEM/OES, in tandem with the corresponding sales, key account managers, and R&D colleagues, is responsible for the achievement of sales and margin plans of the Business Unit (BU), according to the Major Customer Group (MCGR) for the defined segments within the Automotive OEM/OES Market.

The Market Development Manager is responsible for developing North American Automotive customer needs in regards to our target applications.  They are responsible for identifying unique value propositions, and driving our development pipeline towards innovation that matters to our OEM/OES customers. Additionally, the Market Development Manager – OEM/OES will drive projects from ideation through launch and implementation.

Responsibilities:
  • In alignment with the regional and global BU, define and develop new applications through customer interaction, market research, evaluation projects, market package development, training and implementation. 
  • Work with R&D, Sales and Key account managers to create new products that solve customer problems and make us better.  
  • Operative support for launching and maintaining defined products.
    • Maintain customer pricing system and quoting system
    • Assist with Creating and publishing marketing content (brochures, sample cards, PI sheets) needed for regular sales activities and to support trade shows and Linked In
    • Point of contact to sales team for product related information
  • Drive our technology pipeline to meet future customer technology pipeline gaps.
  • Conduct Market research in segments such as e-mobility.  Identify ideas to solve customer problems in these megatrend segments.
  • Development of effective defense strategies to protect market share in existing segments.
  • Support information flow between sales and marketing.  Help international colleagues internalize north American customer priorities.
  • Coordinate promotional activities including sales collateral and participation in industry and customer events to support sales growth

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemistry, or materials science or equivalent
  • MBA is a plus. 
  • Minimum of five years of combined marketing and/or product development experience in an automotive supplier
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Must have strong strategic thinking, organizational and critical thinking skills with a bias towards action.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel, and experience with CRM software packages
  • Must be able and willing to travel 50%
  • Ability to speak another language is a plus.  Comfort working across borders is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability work effectively in cross functional teams
